Rosemont Primary, Elementary, and International Preparatory Middle School is the only PK through eighth grade dual language school in Dallas ISD. Located in the heart of Oak Cliff, Rosemont is a Title I school with an ethnicity breakdown of 82% Hispanic and 18% White students with 74.3% of students being economically disadvantaged. Rosemont Schools are two separate schools, both located across the street from one another. The Primary PK-2 campus has 585 students and the Elementary/Middle School, grades 3-8 campus has 488 students, with a total enrollment of 1073 students. Rosemont Elementary was one of the first elementary schools to offer the Dual Language program in 2006, a 70/30 model in kinder and first grade, and then a 50/50 model beginning in 2 nd through fifth grade. Through the work of the Site Based Decision Making Committee (SBDM), administration, teachers, and parents began to see the impact of their own child becoming bi-literate and began to champion the dual language program through the eighth grade. In 2012, Rosemont began its first cohort and by 2015, Rosemont Schools graduated the first eighth grade class. Students who are accepted in the middle school are provided opportunities to explore their learning in science and technology. With a long standing reputation in the community and school district for parent involvement, Rosemont parents connect dual language with the annual Dia de los Niῆos holiday celebration. Parents write, act, direct, and produce their own dual language play. Rosemont is proud to be a dual language school in which the school and parents embrace biliteracy and bi-culturalism.
